Courtney Allison

Courtney Allison is the Chief Academic Officer at EdReports. She leads the organization’s efforts to create educator-led, evidence-rich reviews in K–12 mathematics and English Language Arts, and Science. In her role, she also helps shape broader organizational strategy and direction particularly around academic endeavors and new opportunities. Courtney has over 20 years of experience working in education and spent 15 years as part of the New York City Department of Education, where she was a middle school mathematics teacher, school leader, professional developer, and finally served as the Chief of Staff for the Division of Teaching and Learning. Prior to joining EdReports, Courtney was the Deputy Executive Director of Math for America (MƒA). In all her roles, Courtney strives to ensure the work of teachers informs broader policy and decision making. Courtney holds a B.A. in Education from Smith College, an M.S. Ed. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.S. Ed. in Educational Leadership from Baruch College. She is the co-author of “The Soup Club Cookbook” and enjoys encouraging people to share food as a way to build community. Courtney lives in NYC where she is a proud NYC public school parent and an unapologetic cat-person.

Marquis Alvaradous is a Lead in Math at EdReports. He is responsible for growing and improving support for the review of mathematics instructional materials for Grades K–12 with a focus on high school. Marquis has more than a decade of experience in the educational arena having served as a Mathematics Teacher, Mathematics Department Chair, Coordinator of Academic Initiatives, Director of Data and Assessments, and Data Consultant. Marquis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Women’s and Gender Studies from Rutgers University – Newark and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from New Jersey City University.

Melody Arabo is an Adoption & Innovation Lead at EdReports, developing partnerships with states, districts, and non-profits across the country to ensure students have access to high quality instructional materials. Prior to this role, Melody was a Teacher Ambassador Fellow with the U.S. Department of Education and was honored to serve as the 2015 Michigan Teacher of the Year. She is a proud graduate of Michigan State University for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and spent fifteen years teaching third grade in the Walled Lake School District in West Bloomfield, MI. In addition to being a wife, mother of three, and children's book author, Melody is a passionate advocate for bullying prevention, special education, teacher leadership, and all things education.

Stephanie Barnett

Stephanie Barnett is a Systems Conditions Lead at EdReports, developing partnerships with states, districts, and nonprofits across the country to ensure students have access to high-quality instructional materials. Prior to this role, Stephanie served as a high school mathematics teacher as a proud native of eastern Kentucky. She has 15+ years experience working in public schools, 11 of which were spent teaching geometry, algebra, business math, and middle school math. Stephanie holds a Master of Teaching degree in Middle School Mathematics from Morehead State University and a Rank 1 in Special Education from the University of the Cumberlands. In her free time, she loves to play with her dogs, travel, and spend time with her family.

Jess Barrow

Jess Barrow is EdReports' Managing Editor. Jess joined EdReports from Denver Public Schools where she focused on communications strategies and tactics to support a teacher leadership model being implemented across the district. Prior to working with DPS, Jess lived in Chittagong Bangladesh where she directed an English language foundation program at the Asian University for Women. She has been dedicated to the field of education throughout her career and has worked for school districts, government agencies, and non-profits in hopes of serving teachers and students and sharing their amazing stories. Jess earned her M.A. from Columbia University Teachers College and her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.

Amanda Bikowski

Amanda Bikowski is a Systems Conditions Specialist at EdReports. She is responsible for developing partnerships with states, districts, and non-profits across the country to ensure students have access to high quality ELA instructional materials. Prior to this role, Amanda was an Elementary Assistant Principal at an independent charter school in Durham, NC, where she earned her National Boards Certification in Middle Grades Literacy. Her passion for literacy began as an elementary teacher and continued throughout her career as an instructional coach and literacy interventionist. She is a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina where she earned her Bachelor’s in English Language Literature and the University of Missouri-St. Louis where  she earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and really good coffee.

Jake Boesch

Jake Boesch is a Product & Strategy Lead at EdReports, responsible for leading the development of EdReports' service model that drives our partnerships with states, districts, and nonprofits across the country. In this role, he collaborates with members of the External Affairs Office to articulate goals and a theory of action for EdReports' services and ensures all team members are able to access what they need to excel in implementation. Jake brings experience as a classroom teacher, academic coach, and school principal. He has also designed long-term adult development opportunities for those in academic, nonprofit, and corporate settings. After receiving a B.A. from Loyola University Chicago, his love for education and desire to support those impacting students began as a 5th grade teacher in Brooklyn, NY, where he earned an M.S.T. at Pace University.

Dr. Deirdre Brady

Dr. Deirdre Brady has worked in education for over 25 years, most recently as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development in a large school district in Michigan. She has experience teaching at the elementary level, leading elementary and secondary buildings, and leading curriculum and instruction at the district level. In addition, Deirdre has taught at the university level, focusing on a variety of masters and doctoral courses within curriculum and educational leadership. Deirdre has served as a national consultant, focusing on school culture and leadership. She earned a B.S. in elementary education from Bowling Green State University and holds elementary teaching certificates in Michigan and Florida. She has also earned a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a focus on school culture and teacher growth from Oakland University. In her spare time, Deirdre enjoys cooking and baking for family and friends, traveling, (especially overseas), reading, and knitting.

Kyle has an MBA from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from Fordham University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in history from The George Washington University.

Alana Calco

Alana Calco is a Managing Director of Talent at EdReports, leading the organization's multi-faceted strategy for Human Resources operations. In this role, she oversees all aspects of employment lifecycles and directly contributes to cultivating a company culture that is rooted in EdReports' core values and Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity. Prior to joining EdReports, Alana has more than a decade of experience in education, including teaching, coaching, recruiting, and full-spectrum talent development. She has previously designed and lead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming, as well as Leadership Development programming, to an entire network of schools and has played an instrumental role in strengthening employee satisfaction and retention efforts. She is deeply passionate about educational equity and supporting employees to bring their best selves to work to ensure that teachers can be the best they can be for their students. Alana earned at B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from North Park University in Chicago and a M.A. in Teaching from National Louis University. In her free time, Alana enjoys cooking, gardening, listening to audiobooks, spending time with her husband, four children, and their small menagerie of pets.

Mitchelle Carrasquilla is a Knowledge & Systems Management Coordinator at EdReports. In this role, she is responsible for supporting the key functions of the Operations Office and working across the organization to assist organizational data collection, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement efforts. Before joining EdReports, Mitchelle served in various roles supporting mentorship and scholarship programs and higher education programs for students and faculty. Most recently she served as a Financial Coach providing one-on-one coaching and necessary resources to families in need. Mitchelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies from Brown University. In her free time, she enjoys fostering animals, writing, and creating art.

Janna brings more than 15 years of marketing experience with a history of leading successful multi-channel digital strategies designed to increase brand awareness, deepen engagement, and build community for socially progressive organizations. Prior to EdReports, she led digital communications strategies for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Teach for America, and the Center for Reproductive Rights. Jessica Deas

Jessica Deas is a Reviewer Experience Lead at EdReports. Jessica began her career as a mathematics teacher in Atlanta, GA. As a teacher, she took on many responsibilities including grant writer, grade-level content chair, and lead teacher. She later worked in NYC as a site director for SAGA Education, a math tutoring program in Brooklyn, NY which helped underprivileged students with Algebra I. Most recently, Jessica served as the Director of Programs for PENCIL Inc, a  New York City nonprofit focused on equipping students with college and career readiness skills. She has a B.S. in Mathematics from Fort Valley State University and an M.A. in Education and Social Policy from New York University. Jessica is a dog enthusiast and enjoys exploring the local farmers market with her son.

Brandie Domangue is a Program Management Specialist in Talent & Culture at EdReports. She is a SHRM-CP certified professional, and volunteers as a Director of College Relations for Northshore SHRM. Brandie is a Louisiana native and currently a resident of Mandeville, LA. Her undergraduate credentials were obtained from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA, and she earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction along with her Reading Specialist certification through the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Brandie has experience as an elementary school teacher, middle school ELA teacher, high school English teacher, Department Chairperson, Instructional Coach, Teacher Mentor Facilitator, and served on the LDOE Assessment committee. Brandie joined EdReports by initially serving as a reviewer and then a writer on ELA review teams. Brandie enjoys reading, spending time with her family, listening to music, and spending time at the beach.

Katie Dunn is a Program Management Manager at EdReports. Prior to joining the organization, Katie served on the EdReports Math Content Review Team as a writer. As the Coordinator for Elementary/Middle School Special Education Curriculum and Instruction for Jefferson Parish Schools, Katie mentored teachers around the New Orleans metropolitan area, helping them to improve curriculum and instructional practices for students with special needs. She has ten years of experience in teaching Special Education, specializing in Deaf Education, and served the State of Louisiana as a Teacher Leader Advisor. Katie has her B.A. and M.A.T. in Education of the Hearing Impaired from University of New Orleans.

Teresa brings extensive experience and expertise supporting states and districts in designing, implementing, and evaluating college and career readiness initiatives. Prior to joining EdReports, Teresa served as a strategic policy consultant working with foundations designing and implementing innovative strategies for challenges facing public education. Teresa earned an M.A. in Public Policy from American University in Washington, D.C., where she focused on education and social policy, and a B.A. in Law and Policy from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Teresa lives in Alexandria, Virginia, where she can often be found enjoying one of D.C.’s many museums, sipping a vanilla latte, or cheering on the New York Giants.

Gio Escudero

Gio Escudero is the Principal of Culture and Internal Learning. He is responsible for operationalizing the organization’s diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity (DBIE) commitment and building a culture of intentional learning that authentically reinforces our core values and DBIE aspirations. Gio brings more than a decade of experience in the education and nonprofit sector. He started his career as a teacher in Miami-Dade as a Teach for America Corps member, and has also taught, led, and coached in Brooklyn and Dominican Republic. Most recently, he held the position of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Achievement First, overseeing the organization's DEI strategy and learning and development across Network Support teams and 41 schools.

Gio is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Columbia University. He is a Certified Professional with the Society for HR Management and is currently working toward his Executive Coaching Certification. He resides in the Bronx, NY with his mini poodle, Benito. He is a fan of travel, fitness, brunch with friends and family, dancing, and Beyoncé.

Shannah Estep

Shannah Estep most recently served as the Director of the Standards, Assessment and Instruction initiative with the CORE Districts and led a team comprised of 50 senior instructional leaders representing each of those districts. Shannah brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including writing curriculum and assessments for AIMS Education Foundation and teaching at Fresno Pacific University, as well as acting as a professional development specialist, and coach for districts across the country in the area of mathematics education and reform. Shannah began her career as a math and science teacher and through her years in the classroom, has taught multiple grades K–12.  She is a proud graduate of California State University, Fresno where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees.

She joined EdReports after working as Social Media Specialist for Denver Public Schools, where she managed the district's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and website content strategy. Prior to DPS, Alexis founded a Denver-based social media marketing firm where she worked with national and local businesses to develop innovative, content-based social media marketing strategies. Prior to EdReports, Victoria worked at the New York City Department of Education in a variety of roles including project management, operations, and client services, and served most recently as Chief of Staff for the Office of Teacher Development. Prior to this role, Marisa was a high school and middle school math teacher in districts across the country and served as the Mathematics Instructional Coordinator for the Montana Office of Public Instruction. Marisa also served as a high school instructional coach in Helena, MT. Marisa is passionate about equitable access to high-quality mathematics instruction that allows all students to experience the joy and beauty of math. She currently is a member of the Montana Math Standards Development Team. She holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics and statistics from Barnard College and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Boston University. Marisa lives in the beautiful state of Montana and loves spending time with her family and doing yoga.

Before joining the organization, Tom served EdReports as a freelance communications writer and storytelling consultant for the Klawe Fellows. He has a decade’s experience in learning design, including as an ELA Content Creator and Humanities Content Manager at Khan Academy and designing virtual reality simulations for Career and Technical Education at TransfrVR. Originally from England, Tom has taught English as a Second Language in the UK and China, led school theater workshops across Europe, and worked as as an actor and writer in theater and radio. He has an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford.

Jamilah Hicks

Jamilah Hicks is Managing Director of Literacy at EdReports. She is responsible for growing and improving support for the review of ELA instructional materials for Grades K–12. Jamilah, a certified K–12 administrator, reading specialist, and PK-5 teacher, is a Louisiana native born in Baton Rouge and a resident of Lafayette. Her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education was obtained from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA and her Master of Education and Masters +30 were obtained from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, LA. Jamilah has experience as a kindergarten teacher, an elementary school assistant principal, and an elementary school principal. Prior to joining EdReports, she served as the Lafayette Parish School System K–5 ELA/Library Science Academic Content Specialist. Jamilah enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and two children, and volunteering at church.

Eric Hirsch

Eric Hirsch is the Founding Executive Director of EdReports. Prior to coming to EdReports.org, Eric was the Chief External Affairs Officer at the New Teacher Center, the Executive Director of the Center for Teaching Quality and the Education Program Manager at the National Conference of State Legislatures. He has supported policymakers in 35 states, written and published more than 150 articles, book chapters, reports and policy briefs, and presented at conferences across the country on topics ranging from school governance to teaching quality. He has worked with education leaders in 20 states and 25 large districts over the past decade to gather more than 1.5 million surveys from school-based educators about the teaching and learning conditions in their schools, providing more than 30,000 school reports that help educators and policymakers to create school environments to accelerate teacher effectiveness. Eric received his teacher certification in Massachusetts and his M.A. in political science from the University of Colorado.

He is an avid musician having successfully performed with his band for a number of years and enjoys art in his downtime.

Gregory Hudson is a Specialist for Talent Acquisition at EdReports, leading the execution of EdReports' multi-faceted strategy for Human Resources Operations through the support, maintenance, innovation, and execution of various human resources activities that span the Employee Life Cycle. He brings his knowledge, skills, and experience from a previous role as Business Operations Team Lead in Special Education in the largest school district in Texas where he spearheaded implementation, monitoring, and improvement of streamlined business processes and practices such as department-wide hiring, onboarding, and training. Greg earned a B.S. in Business Administration with Legal Studies Emphasis from Adams State University. He is an Army Veteran who served and deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom. He enjoys cooking, baking, spending time with his family, leading music and media at church, and mentoring at-risk youth and young adults.

Erin Krapf is a Development Specialist at EdReports responsible for working with all internal and external stakeholders to enhance the organization’s fundraising capacity, streamline systems, and support funder relationships. Erin has a B.A. in history from the University of Arizona. She is passionate about putting strategy into practice and has dedicated a full work-life managing operations for high-performing teams including Education Leaders of Color where Erin operationalized major grant initiatives, serving a significant role in awarding over a million dollars in 2020 to leaders of color, and TNTP where she has contributed broadly across the organization providing business development and fundraising project management, leadership support, and program operations for the Arizona Teaching Fellows. Prior to TNTP, Erin served as program director for a Phoenix-based youth development organization, program supervisor and family support specialist for an Arizona-wide behavioral health organization, and a community development Peace Corps volunteer in the country of Georgia—former Soviet republic. Erin loves a good camping adventure and spent the majority of 2021 traveling full-time throughout the United States living, working, and road-schooling in a thirty-foot RV with her husband, two kids, dog, and cat. Now, settled back home in Arizona, Erin enjoys hiking and taking in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

Mark LaVenia

Mark LaVenia is the Data Strategist at EdReports and a Strategic Data Project Fellow alumnus through the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University. Prior to joining EdReports, Mark was a methodologist at the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University, where his responsibilities consisted of executing experimental research designs, instrument development, statistical analysis, and report writing. His interests in education research and data analysis stem from his early-career experience as an elementary school teacher, serving as a special education teacher and site-based literacy coach, and graduate training as an Institute of Education Sciences Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Research Training Fellow through Florida State University’s Florida Center for Reading Research. Mark earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from Florida State University.

Erin Longcor

Erin Longcor is the Finance Director for EdReports. Erin came to EdReports from Teach For America • Chicago-Northwest Indiana, where she worked in Operations supporting more than 100 regional, national, and partner staff. Aside from working on day-to-day operations, Erin worked on an 18-month project to downsize and reconfigure the Chicago office space, and provided support for over 75 events held in the office. Prior to that role, Erin worked at Mack & Associates, a boutique staffing firm, where she managed Temporary Staff Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Office Operations. Before moving to the Chicago area, Erin began her professional career at Land of Lincoln Credit Union where she managed Member Relationships by educating and assisting members with their personal finances.

John-Carlos Marino is a Science Lead at EdReports. He is responsible for growing and improving support for the science activities at EdReports, including the review of science instructional materials. John-Carlos began his career in education in Philadelphia where he taught in a Center City K–6 school. He then earned a Ph.D. in educational studies from the University of Michigan where he taught in the teacher education program and studied elementary students' argumentation and use of evidence in science and history. John-Carlos also brings district-level experience from his time at Detroit Public Schools Community District where he supported strategic planning for the Office of Curriculum & Instruction.

Margaret Overbagh-Feld

Margaret Overbagh-Feld is a Lead in Multilingual Learners (MLL) at EdReports. Margaret has worked in education for more than fifteen years, primarily teaching English as a Second Language and English Language Arts in New York City Public Schools, and consulting and coaching in both NYC and Pittsburgh, PA. Most recently, she was the 6–12 ESL Instructional Specialist for Pittsburgh Public Schools, leading principals, and teachers in implementing instructional best practices for English Learners. Margaret's career in education started somewhat unexpectedly when, as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a village in Ukraine, she fell in love with teaching English and knew that's what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. Margaret has a B.A. in Public Policy and English Literature from The College of William and Mary in Virginia and a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from NYU. She is a native of the D.C. suburbs, a mother to two small children whose language acquisition never ceases to amaze her, and a voracious reader.

Kyndall Parker is the Chief Operating Officer at EdReports. She is responsible for the execution and impact of financial, operational, talent, and cultural efforts. By setting the operational vision she collaboratively manages strategic planning, cross-functional change management and project management, financial operations, and organizational operations. Her team is also responsible for meeting talent and culture goals with a lens of upholding EdReports’ DBIE values. Kyndall brings extensive experience overseeing strategic operations across sectors and industries. She sharpened her operator and consultant toolkit in the education industry, having served as both a regional school administrator and consultant to innovative school districts and education-reform organizations. She brings additional experience from directing a global asset management team to meet its multi-billion P&L goals and building the financial, operational, and talent foundation for tech startups. She holds an A.B. from Princeton University and an MBA from Columbia University.

Rachael Ross is the Managing Director of Research & Learning at EdReports. In this role, Rachael is responsible for shepherding the organization’s learning priorities, incubating new areas of work, and enhancing EdReports’ external research and publications. Rachael brings over a decade of experience in public education having served as a state leader in Tennessee, district-level leader in charter schools in Memphis, university professor at the University of Memphis, graduate research assistant at Clemson University, and classroom teacher in Georgia and Louisiana. She is excited to lean on these experiences to build on the organization’s expertise about the instructional materials market. Rachael holds three degrees in education including a Ph.D. in Literacy, Language, and Culture from Clemson University, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University, and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. When she isn’t digging into educational research, she enjoys reading suspense novels, trying new restaurants, and playing with her daughter, Rosie.

Her typical day could include maintaining current data tools, identifying ways to simplify or enrich the team’s user experience, or staying current with the latest data technology trends. Before discovering database administration, Corinne worked in K–6 public schools in Utah and California and performing arts organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Westminster University and a M.M. in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Corinne still sings when the story and the music feel just right.

Prior to joining EdReports, Judy worked at Achievement First for eight years where she initially taught middle school ELA for four years and then served as a member of her school's leadership team primarily responsible for the ELA department in the Academic Dean, ELA role for four years. Judy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education. Will Schoeppner is the VP, Systems & Operations Management for EdReports and is responsible for the Program Management Office and Knowledge & Systems Management teams. Schoeppner is an accomplished information technology and business operations leader with more than 25 years of progressive experience developing, managing and leading business operations, integrated technology and vendor management teams. He began his career as a Counterintelligence Agent in the U.S. Army with numerous tours in the Middle East. Schoeppner holds a B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota where he studied and performed Cognitive Neuroscience as well as publishing his research findings internationally. Additionally, he received his Master of Business Administration from Concordia University.

Sam Shaw

Sam Shaw is Vice President of Content at EdReports. Sam came to EdReports from the South Dakota Department of Education, where he oversaw science education in addition to social studies, fine arts, advanced placement, the South Dakota Virtual School, among other programs, and was also a participant in the SD Governor’s Leadership Program. Sam worked statewide with teachers and school leadership to advance education related to college and career readiness (CCR), specifically with regard to CCR standards implementation. Prior to his role at the Department of Education, Sam was a middle school science teacher. He has also held positions of board director and financial officer with the Council of State Science Supervisors (CSSS) where he was also a collaborator on the Science Professional Learning Standards. Sam earned his B.S. in Biology from South Dakota State University and his Executive Master in Public Administration from the University of South Dakota.

Jamie Siers is a Director of Knowledge & Systems Management at EdReports. Jamie came to EdReports from Grantmakers for Education (GFE), where she worked for nearly 300 education philanthropies to keep them engaged and united in the common goal of strengthening education for all learners. Jamie has also worked as a consultant, advising school districts on strategy and communications best practices to help advance their missions and engage parents and other stakeholders in their community of learning. Having been raised in a family of educators, she is eager to contribute to that tradition, which is why, after years of experience working in the public and private sector in internal communications, program management, and logistics, she is never happier than when she's working to improve K–12 education. Jamie earned her M.A. in international development from the University of Denver and her B.A. in political science from the University of Iowa.

Lynn Smith

Lynn Smith is a Mathematics Lead at EdReports. She is responsible for supporting K–8 mathematics reviews including research and procurement, recruiting/training educators, and tracking report progress from start to publication. Additionally, Lynn facilitates and assists others with partnerships work including various districts and state departments across the country. Lynn has 25+ years experience working in public schools, 16 of which were spent teaching mathematics to special needs students. She served as the Elementary Mathematics Curriculum Specialist/Instructional Lead for Jefferson County Publics Schools in Louisville, Kentucky. In her role with JCPS, Lynn developed curriculum documents, district assessments, and facilitated  professional learning activities/cohorts for district teachers and administrators. She also has served with the Kentucky Department of Education as an Educational Recovery Specialist in Mathematics. Lynn holds a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Indiana and has completed coursework for her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Louisville. In her free time, she loves to build Legos, golf, and spend time with family.

Phasha brings a breadth of experience from a variety of roles in the non-profit arena, Higher Education landscape, and Educational Consulting industry. She is a Cleveland, Ohio native and currently resides in Chicago, Illinois, her favorite U.S. city. Jason Stanley is a STEM Program Management Specialist at EdReports. He is responsible for supporting math and science reviews by procuring appropriate materials, managing text resources, and partnering with reviewers throughout the report development process. Jason brings a wealth of knowledge in STEM instruction to EdReports from his experiences both as an elementary and intermediate science teacher, and from his role as the STEAM curriculum and instructional specialist for the largest K–8 district in Arizona. He values the strength of collaboration as evidenced by his time serving on state-level committees to develop and review the newly adopted Arizona science standards. Jason received his bachelors in elementary education from Arizona State University, and his master’s in educational administration from Grand Canyon University. He loves to spend time outdoors with his family grilling, camping, and hiking.

Stephanie Stephens is a dedicated professional with over two decades of experience in the field of education. Currently serving as the Early Literacy Principal at EdReports, Stephanie's primary role involves enhancing and expanding the support for English language arts (ELA) initiatives at the organization. Specifically, she focuses on early literacy, working diligently to improve content review teams and promote growth within the realm of early literacy education. Most recently, Stephanie held the position of Senior Director of Professional Development Services at AIM Institute for Learning and Research. In this role, she played a key part in shaping professional development strategies and services. Stephanie's expertise spans various roles in education, including that of a teacher, instructional coach, associate director of education, and early literacy specialist. Stephanie also served as the English Language Arts Specialist at UnboundEd, where she utilized her knowledge of early literacy and culturally relevant education to design and implement impactful professional development programs in K–5 English Language Arts. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master of Science in Montessori Education, and a certification as a Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher (C-SLCT) from CERI®.

Jianna is a Michigan native and was previously a middle school ELA and Spanish teacher. Most recently, she was the ELA, MTSS, & School Improvement Consultant for the West Bloomfield School District, where she worked to help teachers be the best they could be for their students. Jianna earned her undergraduate degree in teaching from Oakland University and her master's degree from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She also has a post-master's certificate in literacy coaching from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In her spare time, she likes to read, exercise, and watch her daughter ride horses.

Tim is Managing Director of STEM at EdReports. Prior to joining the organization full time, Tim was a member of the Anchor Educator Working Group that developed the review tool for K–8 mathematics and was a member of the Content Review Team that created the inaugural set of reviews for EdReports.org. Most recently, Tim was the Mathematics Curriculum Specialist for grades 6 through 12 with Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, KY, and in that role, Tim developed curriculum documents, district-level assessments, and professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators that aligned with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Prior to working as a mathematics curriculum specialist, Tim was a classroom teacher for 10 years with courses ranging from Geometry to Advanced Placement Statistics, and he taught in public and private schools in the states of Georgia and Kentucky. Tim received his B.A. from the University of the South in Sewanee, TN majoring in mathematics and Latin, and he earned his M.Ed. from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA majoring in secondary mathematics education. Currently, Tim is working on a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, and his research will focus on how teachers’ mindset impacts students’ mathematics achievement in grades 9 through 12.

Shannon Wachowski is a Lead in Science at EdReports. She is responsible for growing and improving support for the science activities at EdReports, including the review of science instructional materials. Originally a chemical engineer, Shannon left industry to pursue a career of lifelong learning and helping others learn. Prior to joining EdReports, Shannon served as the Science and CTE Consultant for the Wyoming Department of Education. In that role she supported K–12 science teachers in implementing NGSS-based standards as well as contributed to the review of interactive items for the state summative science test. In her time as an educator, Shannon has taught a variety of science and math classes in rural high school settings as well as facilitated professional development for teachers, from pre-service to veteran. Shannon has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and an M.A. in Teaching from Oakland University.

Prior to this role, Dr. Walker served as a Campus Instructional Specialist, District Instructional Coach, and 8th grade English teacher as a proud native of Houston, Texas. She has also served on the Texas Teacher Advisory Board and as a Senior Policy Fellow with Teach Plus Texas, advocating for educational policy laws that directly impact the classroom and beyond. Her writing has been featured in national publications highlighting her passion and commitment to an equitable education for all. As a lifelong learner, Dr. Walker holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, a M.A.T. in English Language Arts from Relay Graduate School of Education, and an Ed.D. in Professional Leadership with an emphasis in Literacy from the University of Houston. Kate brings 15 years of experience in K–12 education, including running a teacher pipeline program in Denver Public Schools and training Louisiana state leaders on new instructional materials. Before joining Edreports, Kate spent eight years leading development efforts at TNTP, diversifying revenue sources and expanding funding at the local and national levels. Kate earned her B.S. in Marketing and Spanish from Santa Clara University and her M.A. in Communications from the University of Denver. A lifelong learner who’s passionate about both education and health, Kate is a trained holistic nutritionist who loves to grow her own vegetables and plan adventures throughout the Rocky Mountains, where she lives.

Darren Burris is currently a math teacher at YSC Academy in Wayne, PA. In this innovative environment education happens in person and online and prioritizes connecting students and their passions with content. Prior to his return to the classroom, he was the Director of Instruction for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) at Boston Collegiate Charter School in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. Darren was also a high school mathematics teacher at Boston Collegiate as well as at Abraham Lincoln High School in the School District of Philadelphia.

Kisha Davis-Caldwell is a Senior Policy and Program Specialist and Analyst for the Leadership Development Team at National Education Association. As a member of the Leadership Development Team her focus is helping members build the knowledge skills and abilities need to build and sustain a thriving profession. A National Board Certified Teacher in early adolescent mathematics, Kisha has more than 20 years of teaching experience which also including curriculum development, instructional coaching and professional development facilitation. The recipient of the Freeman Foundation and Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund awards, Davis-Caldwell has a broad and global perspective on education; shaped by experiences studying abroad in Beijing, teaching in Japan, and exploring schools in Australia, China, England, Italy, New Zealand, UAE and Qatar. From 2010-2012, Kisha served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow for the National Science Foundation and the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Kisha has served as a member of NEA’s College and Career Ready Working Group, Board of Directors for edReports, textbook adoption committees and in a variety of advisory role. She has also support NCAE’s Instructional Leadership Institute each summer since its inception.

Dr. LaTonya Goffney

Superintendent of Schools for the Aldine Independent School District

Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney serves as the Superintendent of Schools for the Aldine Independent School District. She began her career as a language arts teacher in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD, later serving as assistant principal and principal before leading COCISD as superintendent. In 2013, district leaders selected her as Superintendent of Lufkin ISD. Dr. Goffney was named Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards in 2017. In Spring 2021, the Suburban Houston Association of Bilingual Educators (SHABE) Dr. Goffney was the recipient of the Diana García Marion Award for advocating for and demonstrating continued support for Bilingual and ESL education. Dr. Goffney is active in many organizations including: the Texas School Alliance, the University Interscholastic League Legislative Committee, the Texas Association of Black School Educators, the Texas Council of Women School Executives, TASA Future-Ready Superintendents, and Chiefs for Change. She was recently named President-Elect of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) and is the newly-elected chair of the Texas Urban Council of Superintendents (TUCS). A native of Coldspring, Texas, Dr. Goffney is a graduate of Sam Houston State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s in educational administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership.

Michael Hyde offers the EdReports board a wealth of financial services experience. He was a managing director in Accenture’s Finance and Risk Practice and has led Finance Consulting Engagements and complex Business Process Services programs for clients in finance, treasury, and procurement areas across multiple industry groups for over 30 years.  His technical expertise includes finance and accounting operations improvement, finance technology modernization, process simplification and automation.  He has supported financial systems and processes in a wide range of industries including U.S. Life Insurance and high tech equipment companies that span the globe. Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.

Maria is Harvey Mudd College's fifth president, starting her tenure in 2006. Maria is a renowned mathematician, computer scientist and scholar and first woman to lead Harvey Mudd since its founding in 1955. Prior to joining Harvey Mudd, Maria served as dean of engineering and professor of computer science at Princeton University. Prior to Princeton, Maria was at the University of British Columbia where she served as dean of science from 1998 to 2002, vice president of student and academic services from 1995 to 1998 and head of the Department of Computer Science from 1988 to 1995. Prior to that Maria spent eight years with IBM Research and two years at the University of Toronto. Maria is one of the ten members of the board of Microsoft Corporation, a board member of Broadcom Corporation and Math for America, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, a trustee for the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley and a member of both the Stanford Engineering Advisory Council and the Advisory Council for the Computer Science Teachers Association. Maria was recently named number 17 on Fortune's World's 50 Greatest Leaders.

Kathleen McGee

Kathleen is a highly accomplished technology and regulatory lawyer and former prosecutor with more than 17 years’ experience in the public sector. Her practice has a dual focus on compliance and investigations. As Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Internet & Technology for the New York State Attorney General’s Office, Kathleen was at the forefront of regulation, enforcement initiatives, and public policy involving privacy, data security, and consumer protection, among other issues. Earlier in her career, she served as Director of the Office of Special Enforcement in the New York City Mayor’s Office, where, as lead counsel, she directed litigation on a number of intellectual property and civil nuisance matters and was a policy leader on issues ranging from data analytics to human trafficking. While with the Mayor’s Office, Kathleen also developed the New Business Acceleration Team to streamline regulations and fast-track new business development. Kathleen is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Dana Nerenberg is the Director of Learning Acceleration for Portland Public Schools. She served as principal of Sitton Elementary School, a bilingual, Title I school in Portland, Oregon, since 2014. During the 2016-2017 school year, Dana was a Principal Ambassador Fellow at the US Department of Education, serving as an advisor to the federal department. Prior to leading Sitton, Dana served as principal of Hyde-Addison Elementary School in Washington, DC, for eight years. Dana served on the Board of Trustees for AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation from 2012 to 2018. An alumna of Teach for America and New Leaders for New Schools, Dana is committed to supporting and serving all learners and providing rigorous, responsive learning opportunities for all students. K. Sue Redman

K. Sue Redman's career has included operational and executive experience in the corporate, consulting, government, not-for-profit and education sectors. From 2004 until 2008, Ms. Redman was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Texas A&M University, the nation’s seventh largest university and the oldest public institution of higher learning established in Texas. As CFO, Ms. Redman oversaw university-wide financial and business operating activities, including finance, human resources, accounting and reporting, information technology, strategic sourcing and procurement, dining services, parking, transportation and logistics. From 1999 –2004, Ms. Redman was the Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller of AdvancePCS, a pharmacy benefit manager with annual revenues of $14 billion and traded on NASDAQ. Before joining AdvancePCS, Ms. Redman was a partner at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers where, as a partner, she provided accounting and consulting services to both public and private companies in a variety of industries, including energy, engineering and construction, and private equity. She also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and has assisted various companies in numerous financial and strategic transactions.

Liz Simon

Chief Operating Officer, Industrious

Liz Simon is Chief Operating Officer for Industrious, a global best-in-class workplace company. Liz joined Industrious in 2021, after eight years as Co-Chief Operating Officer at General Assembly. In her role at General Assembly, Liz worked directly with policymakers to help develop policies and education models that put students first and addresses the dynamic requirements of employers. Liz joined GA from the Obama Administration, where she served as Counselor to the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. In that role, Liz worked on policy issues at the nexus of immigration and entrepreneurship and helped launch the predecessor to the Presidential Innovation Fellows program.  Liz also worked in several capacities on Barack Obama’s primary and general election campaigns in 2007-2008.  Prior to that, Liz was an attorney at Hogan Lovells, a Washington D.C.-based law firm. Liz holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from Cornell University and earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Lauren Stuart

Lauren is a National Board Certified English Language Arts teacher at El Rodeo School in the Beverly Hills Unified School District. As a Hope Street Group National Teacher Fellow, she has worked on the issue of teacher preparation. As a Teach Plus California fellow, she worked on legislation to lengthen the amount of time given for teachers to earn tenure. In addition, Lauren is a Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellow, studying global education and will be spending time abroad Spring 2018 in a cultural exchange. She is also a member of the Gates Foundation Teacher Advisory Council and the Better Together Teacher Advisory Board. She began teaching in 2006 with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Peter leads SCORE’s strategic research efforts, identifying and studying new and emerging trends that could advance student success in Tennessee and applying the findings across the K-12 to career continuum. Previously, Peter led the Tennessee Educator Fellowship where he oversaw the growth of the fellowship to equip more educators across Tennessee to advocate for student-centered policies and practices. Before joining SCORE in 2015, he taught middle school mathematics and high school English in Memphis and served as a master teacher in Shelby County Schools. Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Peter earned his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College, a master’s degree in public policy from Vanderbilt University, and a certificate in education finance from Georgetown University.

Dr. Carey Wright*

Board Vice Chair | Interim Maryland State Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Carey M. Wright is serving as the interim Maryland State Superintendent of Schools. Prior to this, she served as the Mississippi State Superintendent of Education. One of the longest-serving state education chiefs of the 21st century, she retired in June 2022. Under Dr. Wright’s leadership, the state initiated successful education reforms that made Mississippi a national leader for improving student achievement. A passionate advocate for early childhood education, Dr. Wright implemented Mississippi’s first publicly funded Early Learning Collaborative program, the Mississippi Connects program, the Mississippi Teacher Residency program, and the Performance-Based Licensure program. Prior to her leadership in Mississippi, Dr. Wright was Chief Academic Officer for District of Columbia Public Schools as well as Deputy Chief for the Office of Teaching and Learning. She also served as Associate Superintendent for the Office of Special Education and Student Services for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland and was a teacher, principal, and Director of Special Education and Student Services in Howard County Public Schools. Dr. Wright began her career as a teacher in Prince George’s County Public Schools.
